Two Suspects Arrested in Bau for Drug Abuse

BAU – Police in Bau detained two men suspected of drug abuse during an operation carried out on 18 June. The arrests took place between 10.30 am and 11.30 am in the vicinity of Bobak Sejinjang Village, Singai Bali.

The operation was conducted by officers from the Narcotic Criminal Investigation Division alongside personnel from the Bau District Police Headquarters.

Both suspects, aged 24, were taken into custody after initial urine screening tests returned positive for drugs.

According to Bau District Police Chief Pisupt Mohd Haide bin A. Rahman, the suspects were arrested under provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The Act provides strict measures against individuals involved in drug abuse, trafficking, and possession, reflecting Malaysia’s firm stance on combating narcotics-related offences.

Police emphasised that enforcement against drug abuse remains a priority, with continuous operations being carried out across Sarawak to safeguard communities.

Authorities have urged the public to play an active role in reporting suspicious activities, noting that community cooperation is vital in curbing the spread of drug-related crimes.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has provided dedicated hotlines for information sharing. Members of the public can contact the Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (JSJN) hotline at 012-208 7222 or the Sarawak IPK JSJN hotline at 017-592 9211 to report drug-related offences.
