KUCHING, June 18 — Datuk Kamil Misuari, the husband of Women, Family and Community Development Minister and Santubong Member of Parliament, Nancy Shukri, has passed away.
The sad news was announced on Thursday through an official statement issued by the Minister’s Office and the P193 Santubong Parliamentary Service Centre.
According to the statement, Datuk Kamil returned to the mercy of Allah earlier today. The announcement has been met with condolences from family members, friends, political leaders and members of the public who have expressed their sympathy to Nancy and her family during this difficult time.
The statement said that the late Datuk Kamil’s remains will be managed in Kuala Lumpur before being flown back to Kuching, Sarawak on June 19, 2026.
Upon arrival in Kuching, the remains will be placed at the official residence of Nancy Shukri at Taman Serira, Jalan Menggeris, Petra Jaya. Members of the public will be given the opportunity to pay their final respects before the burial takes place.
The final respects session is expected to allow relatives, friends, community leaders and members of the public to honour the late Datuk Kamil’s memory and offer support to the bereaved family. Details regarding the timing of the final respects session will be announced at a later date.
Following the funeral arrangements, Datuk Kamil will be laid to rest at the Samariang Islamic Cemetery in Kuching.
The passing of Datuk Kamil marks a moment of sorrow for the family, close associates and those who knew him personally. Messages of condolence have continued to pour in as many pray for strength and comfort for Nancy and her loved ones during this period of mourning.
In the official statement, the public was also encouraged to pray for the late Datuk Kamil, asking that his soul be blessed with mercy and placed among the faithful.
