Anwar Ibrahim Urges Focus on Johor’s Economic Growth

JOHOR BAHRU – Prime Minister and Pakatan Harapan Chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, has called for continued emphasis on economic development and welfare in Johor, stressing that political distractions should not overshadow the state’s priorities.

Speaking during a recent address, Anwar highlighted the importance of strengthening job opportunities and ensuring that growth benefits all communities. He noted that Johor’s development must remain a central focus, particularly as the state plays a vital role in Malaysia’s wider economic landscape.

“We do not have the luxury of time to engage in politics with rhetorical drama or simply playing with perceptions because our priority is to ensure that the economy continues to grow, job opportunities are strengthened and the welfare of the people including in Johor,” he said.

The Prime Minister added that Pakatan Harapan’s efforts are directed towards building a stronger economy and ensuring that progress is shared across society. “Give HARAPAN a chance so that we can continue our efforts to develop Johor, strengthen the economy and ensure that every result of progress can be enjoyed by all the people,” he stated.

Johor, often described as a gateway to Malaysia due to its proximity to Singapore, has long been a focal point for industrial growth, cross-border trade, and infrastructure investment. Analysts note that the state’s economic performance has significant implications for national development, particularly in manufacturing, logistics, and services.

Anwar’s remarks come at a time when the government is seeking to balance political stability with economic priorities. Observers suggest that the emphasis on Johor reflects both its strategic importance and the need to reassure communities that welfare and opportunity remain at the forefront of policy.

The Prime Minister concluded his message with the phrase “Johor Ke Depan”, signalling a forward-looking vision for the state’s future.
