KUCHING – The Bau District Council has taken part in the Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) Convention 2026, organised by the Sarawak Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government.
The three-day, two-night convention was held at UCSI Hotel, Kuching, bringing together agencies under the ministry to showcase innovation projects, exchange best practices, and strengthen creativity in public service delivery.
During the convention, the D’Baruk Group from Bau District Council presented their project titled “3B: Bye Bye Bird”.
The team, led by Alban Ebony son of Charles Diyom, included members Mohamad Hafiz bin Mataril, Aric Steven son of Monday, Ignatius Joshua son of Simon Siket, Ellfrelstern son of Edirin, Khairulamirin bin Allemran, Debbie Choo, Elezabeth Susanti son of Sari, and Stephanie son of James.
The “3B: Bye Bye Bird” project was designed to tackle the persistent issue of bird nuisance in public areas. The innovation aims to reduce the presence of birds in strategic locations, thereby improving cleanliness, safety, and comfort, particularly within the administrative zones of Bau District Council.
By addressing this challenge in a systematic and practical manner, the project contributes to enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors.
Council representatives expressed their appreciation to the D’Baruk Group for their commitment and teamwork throughout the development and presentation of the project.
The council noted that the initiative reflects the dedication of its staff to finding creative solutions that benefit both the organisation and the wider community.
The KIK Convention itself serves as an important platform for government agencies to highlight innovative approaches in service delivery.
By encouraging collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the event supports the ministry’s broader goal of embedding a culture of innovation across public institutions in Sarawak.
The Bau District Council hopes that the success and experience gained from the convention will inspire more employees to develop projects that address local challenges.
Such initiatives are seen as vital in ensuring that public services remain responsive, efficient, and aligned with community needs.
With innovation increasingly recognised as a driver of progress, the participation of Bau District Council in the KIK Convention underscores Sarawak’s commitment to modernising public service delivery while maintaining focus on community well-being.
