SIBU JAYA – The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (Bomba) successfully carried out a special service operation in Sibu Jaya on Sunday, 14 June 2026, following a report of a dangerous wasp nest at a residential property.
The incident occurred at No. 48, Lorong Tanan Kristal, where a homeowner alerted authorities to the presence of a nest under the roof of the house.
The Bravo Team from the Sibu Jaya Fire and Rescue Station was immediately dispatched to the location, which was approximately one kilometre from their base.
Led by Operation Commander PBK II (TBBK I) Robin, the team arrived promptly in a Mitsubishi Triton utility vehicle.
The operation was supported by members PBB Syakirin and PBB Aziz, with control room coordination handled by PBB Kelvin Wong. Commander Robin also served as the supervisor and driver during the mission.
Upon arrival, the team assessed the situation and confirmed the presence of the wasp nest. Using Baygon insecticide spray, the firefighters neutralised the threat, ensuring the nest was destroyed and the area made safe for residents.
Once the operation was completed, the commander reported that the team and machinery returned safely to the station.
This intervention highlights the department’s commitment to community safety, extending beyond fire emergencies to include pest-related hazards that pose risks to public health.
Wasp nests, particularly when located near homes, can be dangerous due to the aggressive nature of the insects and the potential for multiple stings.
The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia has consistently emphasised its role in safeguarding communities through rapid response and effective handling of diverse incidents.
In addition to fire suppression, the department regularly undertakes special services such as animal rescues, flood assistance, and hazardous material containment.
Residents in Sarawak have expressed appreciation for the department’s efficiency and professionalism in addressing such threats.
The swift action taken in Sibu Jaya reflects the broader operational readiness of Bomba teams across the state, who are trained to respond to emergencies with speed and precision.
The Bravo Team’s intervention serves as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and timely reporting of hazards.
By alerting authorities quickly, residents enable emergency services to act before situations escalate into more serious risks.
As Sarawak continues to develop, the role of the Fire and Rescue Department remains vital in ensuring public safety and maintaining trust within communities.
The Sibu Jaya operation is one of many examples of how Bomba’s dedication contributes to the wellbeing of residents across the region.
