ASAJAYA – Fire and Rescue Department personnel carried out a special operation to remove dangerous beehives at SMK Pesantren Abdul Taib Mahmud, Sadong Jaya, on Tuesday, 16 June 2026.
The operation was led by PBK I Nor Aini binti Hj. Usop, who commanded the Alpha Team from BBP Asajaya. The team deployed one LFRT Atego BJU 5996 fire engine to support the task.
According to the department, the team installed a ladder to access the affected building before using a single stream of water, channelled through a 200-foot hose with one nozzle, to destroy the beehives. Water was supplied directly from the vehicle’s tank.
Once the hives were removed and the area declared safe, the personnel concluded the operation and returned to their station.
The swift response ensured that students and staff were protected from potential harm posed by the insects.
The Fire and Rescue Department emphasised that such operations are part of its commitment to safeguarding communities from environmental hazards.
Beehive infestations, particularly in schools and public facilities, can pose serious risks if not addressed promptly.
This incident highlights the importance of vigilance and readiness in maintaining public safety. The department continues to encourage communities to report hazardous situations, including poisonous insects, to ensure timely intervention.
The operation reflects JBPM Sarawak’s proactive approach in protecting citizens and maintaining a safe environment for education and daily activities.
