MARUDI – The Marudi District Operations Control Centre reported ongoing monitoring of flood-affected areas on 16 June 2026, following several days of high tides and intermittent heavy rainfall since 13 June.
At 1415hrs, water levels were recorded across multiple longhouses in Ulu Teru. Measurements showed Rh. Takang at Kampung Empelam with 0.20 metres of water, Rh. Abok at Kampung Mulong with 0.30 metres, Rh. Kalong at Kampung Rian with 0.40 metres, and Rh. Rendah at Kampung Matek with 0.50 metres. Additionally, SK Director of Entry reported 0.65 metres of water.
Charlie Squad, comprising two members led by Pbt. (PA) Gadieng Anak Issau, was deployed to monitor conditions in Beluru District.
Their observations confirmed that water levels were gradually decreasing, with cloudy weather prevailing in the area.
Authorities confirmed that no Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS) had been opened, as the situation remained manageable.
Schools in the affected districts continued operating as usual, and no disruptions to daily activities were reported. Residents were advised to remain vigilant and to monitor water trends closely.
Officials stressed the importance of evacuating promptly if conditions worsen, highlighting that community awareness plays a crucial role in ensuring safety during flood events.
The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) reiterated its readiness to respond quickly to emergencies, underscoring its commitment to safeguarding communities across Sarawak.
The agency’s mottos, “Wira Biru” and “APM Forever”, reflect its dedication to resilience and preparedness.
The Marudi Public Relations and Documentation Unit confirmed that the situation was under control and safe, with no untoward incidents reported. Continuous monitoring will remain in place until water levels return to normal.
