MIRI – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak, through its Miri branch, conducted a lecture on road safety and technical offences for drivers under the Ministry of Health (MOH) Miri Division on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.
The session was held at the UTC Miri Meeting Room and attended by 27 participants, including drivers and MOH management officers.
The programme was delivered by Tuan Mohamad Nasir bin Hj. Abdul Latiff and Encik Rejal bin Lepi, who emphasised the importance of compliance with traffic laws and safe vehicle practices.
The lecture highlighted common technical offences detected during enforcement operations, such as improper vehicle maintenance and failure to adhere to safety regulations.
Participants were reminded that road users carry a shared responsibility in ensuring safety for themselves and others.
The speakers also stressed that awareness and discipline are key to reducing accidents and promoting safer roads.
The interactive session allowed participants to engage directly with JPJ officers, raising questions and sharing experiences.
Organisers noted that the atmosphere was conducive to learning, with participants showing strong interest in understanding the legal and technical aspects of road use.
JPJ Sarawak expressed its appreciation to the MOH Miri Division for extending the invitation and supporting the initiative.
Officials stated that such collaborations are vital in promoting road safety awareness among professional drivers, particularly those responsible for transporting patients and medical staff.
This programme forms part of JPJ’s broader efforts to educate the public on traffic regulations and encourage responsible driving behaviour.
Similar outreach activities have been conducted across Sarawak, targeting schools, government agencies, and community groups.
Authorities hope that the knowledge gained from the lecture will encourage drivers to adopt more prudent habits, prioritise safety, and remain disciplined on the road.
By strengthening cooperation between government departments, JPJ aims to build a culture of safety that benefits all road users in Miri and beyond.
