JPJ Sarawak Brings Services to Sebauh Festival 2026

BINTULU – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak, through its Bintulu Branch, took part in the 2026 Sebauh Festival on 12 July, offering services directly to the community as part of its ongoing outreach efforts. The festival, held in Sebauh Town and along the Kemena River banks, provided a lively setting for JPJ’s grassroots engagement.

A key feature of JPJ’s participation was the deployment of its Mobile Truck Unit, which operated as a mobile counter service. This initiative allowed residents to complete various JPJ-related matters without the need to travel to the branch office. The service was designed to make processes more accessible, particularly for those living in rural areas, and to reduce the burden of long-distance travel for routine administrative tasks.

In addition to service delivery, JPJ Bintulu conducted inspections of motorcycles with Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) that had expired for more than three years. The checks were aimed at raising awareness among vehicle owners about the importance of keeping licences valid and ensuring compliance with road safety regulations. Officials emphasised that expired licences not only breach legal requirements but also compromise the safety of road users.

The Sebauh Festival provided an ideal platform for JPJ to combine community engagement with road safety advocacy. By participating in local events, the department reinforced its commitment to bringing services closer to the people and promoting responsible vehicle ownership. The initiative reflects JPJ Sarawak’s broader strategy of strengthening public service delivery through direct interaction with communities.

JPJ Sarawak highlighted that its involvement in the festival was part of a wider effort to encourage compliance with road laws and to educate the public about the risks of neglecting vehicle maintenance and documentation. The department’s presence also demonstrated its dedication to building trust with residents by offering practical solutions in a convenient and approachable manner.

Community members welcomed the mobile services, noting that the initiative saved time and provided reassurance that their concerns could be addressed locally. The inspections of motorcycles also served as a reminder of the importance of adhering to regulations, with JPJ officers stressing that compliance contributes to safer roads for all.

The Sebauh Festival itself was a vibrant occasion, showcasing cultural performances, local crafts, and community activities along the Kemena River. JPJ’s participation added a practical dimension to the festivities, blending celebration with public service. Organisers expressed appreciation for the department’s involvement, recognising the value of integrating essential services into community events.

JPJ Sarawak extended its gratitude to the festival organisers for their cooperation and support, noting that such partnerships are vital in ensuring the success of outreach programmes. The department reaffirmed its commitment to continuing similar initiatives across Sarawak, with the aim of making services more accessible and promoting a culture of safety and responsibility among road users.

As the festival concluded, JPJ’s presence was seen as a positive step towards bridging the gap between government services and the public. By combining administrative convenience with safety advocacy, the department demonstrated how public institutions can play an active role in community life while reinforcing the importance of compliance and accountability on the roads.
