SIBU – The Panjai community in Sibu has taken steps towards strengthening inclusivity and cooperation through the installation of Enda Dikelaung House Panjai, an initiative aimed at addressing local challenges and empowering residents.
Speaking at the Ngabang Gawai Dayak gathering at Rumah Jok Igon, Nangka State Assemblyman (ADUN) Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, who is also the Minister of Students, Innovation and Sarawak People’s Empowerment, highlighted the importance of community-driven solutions.
He explained that the initiative reflects the people’s determination to overcome obstacles and ensure their voices are heard.
“I am called to accept the deputy finder and beggar of the common people. I am the leader of the people. We will continue to work together with the sponsoring agency to turn the issue over to the community,” he said, stressing his commitment to inclusivity and grassroots engagement.
Dr Annuar noted that infrastructure concerns and the needs of the ageing coastal population remain priorities.
He emphasised that these issues will be addressed through balanced and inclusive approaches, ensuring that development benefits all segments of society.
To support the initiative, RM250,000 has already been allocated for community expenses. Dr Annuar also pledged further assistance to Rumah Jok Igon, underscoring the government’s readiness to provide resources for local development.
He added that cooperation between residents and leaders is crucial, particularly when facing challenges that affect the wider community.
“Beguna is useful; the people of Buhil Peimak and the ageing parents of the coastal areas will continue to progress together with Sarawak,” he remarked, reinforcing the message of unity and resilience.
The inclusive installation of Enda Dikelaung House, Panjai, is seen as a step towards empowering rural communities, fostering collaboration and ensuring that traditional values remain aligned with modern development.
By combining financial support, infrastructure planning and community participation, the initiative aims to create a sustainable model for rural empowerment in Sibu.
The gathering, held during the Gawai Dayak festivities, also symbolised the importance of cultural heritage in strengthening community bonds.
Leaders and residents expressed optimism that the inclusive approach would help address long-standing issues while paving the way for future growth.
