KUCHING – Project Shori officially launched today at the Padungan Community Hall, bringing together trading card enthusiasts, collectors, and creative professionals for a six-day celebration of talent and community spirit.
The event, organised by Isekai with support from the Kuching South City Council (MBKS), will run until Sunday, 21 June.
It features a diverse programme including trading card game competitions, a collectibles exhibition, a creative market, and food stalls.
With 50 stalls in total, visitors can expect a lively atmosphere offering everything from entertainment to refreshments.
Highlighting the significance of the event, MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng expressed his support, noting that Project Shori is more than a trading card game showcase.
He described it as a platform where communities with different interests can connect, share their skills, and learn from one another.
“We often say that building a better city involves more than just hardware; it’s about creating opportunities for young people to shine. Project Shori embodies this spirit,” he said.
The mayor added that he hopes citizens, particularly young people, collectors, and creative professionals, will take part actively in the event.
He emphasised that participation is the most direct way to support the local creative community, which has shown growing passion in trading card games, art creation, and independent branding.
Visitors will also have the chance to win prizes, with a lucky draw grand prize of RM888 being one of the highlights.
The event aims to encourage family and community involvement, offering a space where creativity and entrepreneurship can thrive.
Project Shori reflects a broader trend in Sarawak of promoting youth empowerment and cultural engagement through community-driven initiatives.
By providing a stage for local talent, the event contributes to Kuching’s reputation as a hub for creativity and innovation.
The mayor, who was unable to attend the opening in person, conveyed his heartfelt support online and promised to visit the venue soon to experience the energy first-hand.
He thanked the organisers for their meticulous preparation and encouraged residents to make time to attend during the week.
With its blend of competition, artistry, and community spirit, Project Shori is expected to draw significant interest from across Kuching and beyond, reinforcing the importance of local creativity in shaping Sarawak’s future.
