MUKAH – The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) carried out Ops Gempur Kenyalang 2/2026 on 25 June as part of its continued efforts to strengthen enforcement against commercial vehicles and ensure compliance with road regulations.
JPJ Sarawak Director, Tuan Norizan bin Jili, was present to oversee the operation and review enforcement activities conducted by officers on duty.
His attendance underscored the department’s commitment to ensuring that road safety standards are upheld across the state.
During the operation, a total of 45 lorries were inspected. The checks revealed a range of offences, including overloading, unsafe loading practices, and poor vehicle maintenance such as worn tyres.
Other technical violations were also identified, reflecting ongoing challenges in ensuring that heavy vehicles meet safety requirements.
Enforcement action was taken against all detected offences in accordance with existing laws. JPJ emphasised that violations involving commercial vehicles are treated seriously, as they pose significant risks to road users.
Overloaded or poorly maintained lorries can increase the likelihood of accidents, endangering both drivers and the wider public.
Ops Gempur Kenyalang forms part of JPJ’s broader strategy to enhance road safety and reduce accident risks.
By targeting commercial vehicles, the department aims to address one of the most pressing concerns on Malaysian roads, where heavy vehicles are often involved in serious incidents.
The operation also highlights the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and adherence to safety standards.
JPJ has consistently reminded operators that compliance is not only a legal requirement but also a moral responsibility to protect lives and property.
In Sarawak, enforcement campaigns such as Ops Gempur Kenyalang are conducted periodically to ensure that transport companies and drivers remain vigilant.
These initiatives are designed to complement public awareness campaigns, reinforcing the message that road safety is a shared responsibility.
The department has pledged to continue monitoring and enforcing regulations, particularly in areas where heavy vehicle traffic is common.
JPJ’s proactive stance reflects its determination to reduce accidents and safeguard the well-being of all road users in Sarawak.
