The incident left one home completely destroyed and another partially damaged. The blaze resulted in the total loss of a house belonging to an elderly couple, 78-year-old Shukri bin Zaini and his wife, 74-year-old Noni binti Ghazali.

Fortunately, both were not at home when the fire broke out. They are currently staying with relatives in the village while awaiting further arrangements.

A second property, owned by 80-year-old Poli bin Alli, sustained around 40 per cent damage, primarily to the kitchen area.

Despite the severity of the fire, Poli, his seven children, and grandchildren escaped unharmed. Firefighters and community members managed to bring the situation under control, preventing further destruction.

DBKU Cares representatives visited the affected families to convey their sympathy and provide immediate support.

The delegation was led by Ramli bin Omar, Head of the Community Department Division, accompanied by Kampung Buntal Village Head Sarbini bin Oren and Community Officer for Pantai Damai, Ismail Haji Sulaiman.

Their presence underscored DBKU’s commitment to community welfare and solidarity during times of hardship.

The initiative reflects DBKU’s broader mission of ensuring that residents receive timely assistance in emergencies.

By offering practical aid and moral support, DBKU Cares continues to strengthen its role as a bridge between local authorities and the community. Community leaders expressed hope that the victims will find resilience in overcoming this ordeal.

The incident also highlighted the importance of vigilance and preparedness in reducing risks associated with residential fires, particularly in traditional village settings where structures are more vulnerable.

As recovery efforts continue, DBKU has pledged to monitor the situation closely and extend further assistance where necessary.

The organisation reaffirmed its dedication to helping affected families rebuild their lives and maintain a sense of security within the community.
