KUCHING – The Miri Malay Welfare Trust Board (LAKMM) has formally introduced its new leadership line-up for the 2025–2028 session during a courtesy call on Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, on 19 June 2026.
The meeting, held at the Premier’s Office, provided LAKMM with an opportunity to present its trustees and outline the organisation’s current progress as well as future development plans aimed at benefiting the Muslim community in Miri Division.
The delegation explained the responsibilities of the new leadership team, emphasising their role in advancing welfare, education, and socio-economic initiatives.
LAKMM expressed its aspiration to deliver programmes more effectively through structured planning and high-impact strategies.
Premier Abang Johari welcomed the visit and voiced his support for LAKMM’s ongoing efforts to empower the Muslim community in Miri. He highlighted the importance of welfare organisations in complementing government initiatives, particularly in strengthening social resilience and improving quality of life.
The courtesy call also underscored LAKMM’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with state authorities and stakeholders.
By aligning its programmes with Sarawak’s broader development agenda, the organisation aims to ensure that its initiatives remain relevant and impactful.
Present at the meeting were LAKMM Chairman Datuk Haji Abdilllah bin Haji Abdul Rahim, Deputy Chairman YB Dato Chee bin Kadir, Secretary Kr Haji Ariffin bin Haji Mohamad, and Treasurer Mr Haji Julaihi bin Haji Mohamad.
Their participation reflected the collective leadership approach LAKMM intends to pursue in the coming years.
The introduction of the new trustees marks a significant step in LAKMM’s journey, as the organisation continues to expand its role in community development.
With a renewed leadership team, LAKMM is expected to strengthen its programmes in welfare assistance, educational support, and socio-economic empowerment, ensuring that the Muslim community in Miri Division benefits from sustainable and inclusive growth.
