KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, visited the family of the late Othman bin Amin on 20 June 2026 to pay their final respects.
The Governor and Toh Puan arrived at the family home in Taman Cenderawasih, Taman Haziiq, where they were welcomed by relatives and acquaintances of the deceased.
They spent time with family members, offering condolences and words of encouragement to those grieving.
Othman bin Amin, originally from Maludam, was a longstanding friend of Tun Wan Junaidi. Their friendship dated back to the Governor’s early political involvement in Batang Lupar, where both men shared experiences and built enduring ties.
The Governor’s presence at the family home reflected the depth of this relationship and his respect for a companion who had been part of his life journey.
During the visit, Tun Wan Junaidi joined family members, relatives, and worshippers in performing the funeral prayer (solat jenazah). The prayer was conducted before the body was taken to the cemetery for burial.
In his message of condolence, the Governor expressed sorrow at the passing of his old friend. He prayed that Allah SWT grant blessings upon the deceased, forgive his sins, accept his good deeds, and place him among the faithful. He also wished strength and perseverance for the bereaved family during this difficult time.
The Governor’s attendance at the funeral highlighted the values of compassion and solidarity that remain central to Sarawak’s leadership.
His gesture of respect underscored the importance of maintaining personal bonds beyond official duties, especially in moments of loss.
Funeral prayers in Islam are a collective act of remembrance and supplication, performed to seek mercy and forgiveness for the departed.
The gathering at Taman Cenderawasih reflected this tradition, with relatives, friends, and community members uniting to honour the memory of Othman bin Amin.
