BINTULU – The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ), working alongside several enforcement agencies, carried out a major integrated operation on 7 July 2026 at Jalan Pesisir Kidurong-Samalaju, Bintulu.
The joint exercise involved the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP), the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM), the Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Department (JSPT) of the Royal Malaysian Police, and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC).
The operation focused on strengthening compliance among road users and commercial vehicles. A total of 226 vehicles of different categories were inspected during the exercise.
Authorities detected a range of violations, including overloading, driving without a valid licence, expired licences, registration numbers not meeting specifications, and other technical offences. Five vehicles were seized as part of enforcement measures.
These included two buses found to be misusing permits, two pickup trucks driven by foreign nationals without valid licences, and one pickup truck operating with an expired Motor Licence (LKM) and no insurance coverage.
Officials confirmed that all actions taken were in line with current legal provisions. The operation was witnessed by senior figures including LPKP Sarawak Chairman YBrs. Tuan Michael Kong Feng Nian, JPJ Sarawak Director YBrs. Tuan Norizan bin Jili, and YBrs. Mrs. Cornelia Wong Chui, alongside senior officers from the participating agencies.
Their presence underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration in ensuring road safety and regulatory compliance. JPJ Sarawak expressed appreciation to all partners for their commitment and cooperation.
The department emphasised that synergy between agencies is vital to improving enforcement efficiency, protecting road users, and addressing violations that could endanger public safety.
Officials highlighted that integrated operations such as this are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen road safety standards in Sarawak.
By combining resources and expertise, agencies aim to reduce accidents, curb illegal practices, and ensure that commercial and private vehicles adhere to regulations.
The operation reflects Sarawak’s broader commitment to enhancing enforcement strategies and promoting responsible road use.
Authorities confirmed that similar initiatives will continue across the state, reinforcing the message that compliance with the law is essential for the safety and wellbeing of all road users.
